Nachdem wir die Halbinsel Kerry auf dem „Ring of Kerry“ umrundet hatten, setzten wir unsere Fahrt zur südlich angrenzenden Beara-Halbinsel fort, die gleichzeitig die Grenze zwischen den Grafschaften Kerry und Cork markiert. Gegen Ende unserer Tour erblickte ich in der unscheinbaren Bucht von Adrigole diesen einsamen Schwan vor der dramatischen Kulisse des Himmels.
Durch den Einsatz des Rotfilters hebt sich das prächtige weiße Gefieder des Schwans eindrucksvoll von seiner Umgebung ab. Gleichzeitig rückt die direkt angrenzende Landschaft, die aus wenig reizvollen Überflutungswiesen besteht, dezent in den Hintergrund, was die Bildkomposition deutlich aufwertet.

After circling the Kerry Peninsula on the ‘Ring of Kerry’, we continued our journey to the neighbouring Beara Peninsula to the south, which also marks the border between the counties of Kerry and Cork. Towards the end of our tour, in the unassuming bay of Adrigole, I spotted this lone swan against the dramatic backdrop of the sky.
By using the red filter, the swan’s magnificent white plumage stands out impressively against its surroundings. At the same time, the directly neighbouring landscape, which consists of unattractive flooded meadows, recedes discreetly into the background, significantly enhancing the composition of the picture.
