Burano ist eine der größeren und am dichtesten besiedelten Inseln in der venezianischen Lagune. Sie besteht eigentlich aus vier Inseln, die durch drei Kanäle getrennt und durch acht Brücken miteinander verbunden sind. Typisch für Burano sind die vielen kleinen Fischerhäuser, die in kräftigen Farben gestrichen sind. Die Farben der Häuser sind dabei jeweils so gewählt, dass sie sich von den Nachbarhäusern abheben. Dadurch entstand der Spitzname „Puppeninsel“.
Bei unserem Ausflug zur „Puppenhausinsel“ Burano hatten wir das ideale Wetter: Windstille und herrlicher Sonnenschein. Ein besonders schöner Blick bot sich entlang der Fondamenta di Terranova mit der Fassade der Kirche „Parrocchia San Martino Vescovo“ im Hintergrund.
The Fondamenta di Terranova

Burano is one of the larger and most densely populated islands in the Venetian lagoon. It actually consists of four islands, separated by three canals and connected by eight bridges. Typical of Burano are the many small fishermen’s houses, which are painted in bright colours. The colours of the houses are chosen so that they stand out from the neighbouring houses. This gave rise to the nickname ‘Doll Island’.
On our trip to the ‘doll’s house island’ of Burano, we had the ideal weather: calm winds and glorious sunshine. There was a particularly beautiful view along the Fondamenta di Terranova with the façade of the church ‘Parrocchia San Martino Vescovo’ in the background.
