Der St. Agnes Mining District ist für mich, neben dem von Botallack, einer der spektakulärsten Küstenabschnitte der cornischen Atlantikküste. In beiden Bereichen liegen die Ruinen der alten Tin-Mines direkt an der malerischen Steilküste. Kein Wunder also, dass die „Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape“ seit 2006 zum UNESCO-Welterbe gehört.
Ich war auf beiden meiner Cornwall-Reisen am St. Agnes Head und habe das Areal unter sehr unterschiedlichen Wetterbedingungen erlebt, die beide sehr faszinierend waren. Bei diesem ersten Besuch im Jahr 1984 herrschte absolut traumhaftes Sommerwetter. Ich konnte einen wunderschönen Blick entlang der Steilküste mit dem Engine House als zentralen Blickfang genießen. Das Bild hat mir von Anfang an sehr gefallen.

Alongside Botallack, the St Agnes Mining District is for me one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline on the Cornish Atlantic coast. In both areas, the ruins of the old tin mines lie directly on the picturesque cliffs. So it’s no wonder that the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2006.
I have been to St Agnes Head on both of my Cornwall trips and have experienced the area in very different weather conditions, both of which were fascinating. On that first visit in 1984, it was absolutely marvellous summer weather. I was able to enjoy a wonderful view along the cliffs with the Engine House as the centrepiece. I loved the picture right from the start.
