Auf dem Weg nach Letdar, unserem vorletzten Etappenziel vor dem anspruchsvollen Aufstieg zum Thorung La Pass, tauchten wir immer tiefer in die faszinierende Hochgebirgslandschaft ein. Kleine Chörten und sorgfältig aufgeschichtete Steinhaufen flankierten den Weg und zeugten von der tiefen Verehrung der Menschen für diese heiligen Orte. Der Himalaya ist nicht nur eine beeindruckende Naturkulisse, sondern auch ein uralter Kulturraum, der seit Jahrtausenden von Menschen bewohnt wird.
Nur wenige hundert Meter vor Letdar, auf etwa 4.400 Metern Höhe, stießen wir auf eine kleine Teestube mit einem atemberaubenden Ausblick auf ein unbenanntes Kar, wie aus dem Lehrbuch. Diese kesselförmige Vertiefung, geformt von einem kleinen Gletscher (Kargletscher), ist ein lebendiges Beispiel für die geomorphologischen Prozesse, die diese Landschaft geprägt haben. Das ist Morphologie live und pur und dazu noch ein ganz wunderschönes Bild.

On the way to Letdar, our penultimate stage destination before the challenging ascent to Thorung La Pass, we immersed ourselves deeper and deeper into the fascinating high mountain landscape. Small chortens and carefully stacked piles of stones flanked the path and bore witness to the people’s deep reverence for these sacred places. The Himalayas are not only an impressive natural backdrop, but also an ancient cultural area that has been inhabited by people for thousands of years.
Just a few hundred metres before Letdar, at an altitude of around 4,400 metres, we came across a small tea room with a breathtaking view of a textbook unnamed cirque. This kettle-shaped depression, formed by a small glacier (cirque glacier), is a vivid example of the geomorphological processes that have shaped this landscape. This is morphology live and pure and also a very beautiful picture.
