Ursprünglich waren wir nach Lajares gefahren, um nach versteinerten Pelzbienennestern zu suchen, und wir wurden fündig. Im Anschluss besichtigten wir die historische Windmühle von Lajares. Bei der Abfahrt, am anderen Ortsausgang von Lajares, entdeckten wir diesen wunderschönen, klassisch geformten Vulkankegel. Die Gegend um Lajares zeichnet sich durch einen relativ jungen Vulkanismus aus, was sich in den noch sehr ausgeprägten Lavaoberflächen im Vordergrund zeigt. Der Vulkankegel selbst, der für diese vulkanische Aktivität verantwortlich ist, präsentiert sich im Hintergrund in seiner klassischen Form. Die absolut zentrale Bildkomposition, die sowohl durch die Oberflächenstrukturen als auch durch die Wolkenverteilung unterstrichen wird, verleiht diesem Bild eine fast schon magische Ausstrahlung.

Fossil volcanic cone near Lajares

We had originally travelled to Lajares to look for fossilised fur bee nests, and we found what we were looking for. We then visited the historic windmill in Lajares and on the way down, at the other end of Lajares, we discovered this beautiful, classically shaped volcanic cone. The area around Lajares is characterised by relatively recent volcanism, as can be seen from the still very pronounced lava surfaces in the foreground. The volcanic cone itself, which is responsible for this volcanic activity, presents itself in the background in its classic form. The absolutely central composition of the picture, which is emphasised by both the surface structures and the cloud distribution, lends this picture an almost magical aura.
