Die Fontana di Trevi, der berühmte Trevibrunnen, ist ein Monumentalbrunnen auf der Piazza di Trevi in Rom. Er wird täglich mit 80 Millionen Litern Wasser aus der Acqua Vergine versorgt. Schon 19 v. Chr. baute der Konsul Marcus Agrippa den Aquädukt Aqua Virgo, um seine Thermen am Pantheon mit Wasser zu versorgen. Dieser Aquädukt ist einzigartig, weil er seit der Antike durchgehend genutzt wird und Wasser aus den Sabiner Bergen über 26 Kilometer nach Rom bringt. Der Trevibrunnen, wie wir ihn heute kennen, wurde von 1732 bis 1762 von Nicola Salvi für Papst Clemens XII. entworfen und ist ein echtes Barock-Highlight.
Der Trevi-Brunnen besteht aus einer Palastfassade, der ein Triumphbogen vorgesetzt ist. Davor tummelt sich auf einer Felslandschaft das Königreich des Ozeans; Meeresgott Ozeanus mit Rossen umringt von Tritonen und Muscheln. Der Trevi-Brunnen ist der größte Brunnen in Rom und weltberühmt. Bei meinem Foto habe ich mich auf einen Ausschnitt der Brunnenlandschaft, einen der Tritonen mit einem Meerespferd, fokussiert.

The Fontana di Trevi, the famous Trevi Fountain, is a monumental fountain in the Piazza di Trevi in Rome. It is supplied with 80 million litres of water from the Acqua Vergine every day. As early as 19 BC, the consul Marcus Agrippa built the Aqua Virgo aqueduct to supply his thermal baths at the Pantheon with water. This aqueduct is unique because it has been in continuous use since ancient times and brings water from the Sabine Mountains over 26 kilometres to Rome. The Trevi Fountain, as we know it today, was designed by Nicola Salvi for Pope Clement XII between 1732 and 1762 and is a real Baroque highlight.
The Trevi Fountain consists of a palace façade with a triumphal arch in front of it. In front of it, the kingdom of the ocean cavorts on a rocky landscape; Oceanus, god of the sea, with steeds surrounded by tritons and shells. The Trevi Fountain is the largest fountain in Rome and is world-famous. In my photo, I focussed on a section of the fountain landscape, one of the Tritons with a sea horse.
