Seit 1886 verbindet die Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn „Molli“ auf einer 15,4 km langen Schmalspurstrecke Bad Doberan mit Heiligendamm und dem Ostseebad Kühlungsborn. Wie schon 1990, ganz kurz nach der Wende, verkehren hier auch heute noch regelmäßig historische Dampflokomotiven. Für die dampflokbegeisterten Geographen unter uns war eine Fahrt mit dieser Bahn während unseres Pfingstausflugs nach Mecklenburg-Vorpommern natürlich ein Muss. Während der Fahrt, als die rückwärts an die Waggons gekoppelte Dampflok diese zog, konnte ich von der Plattform des ersten Waggons aus, eine ungewöhnliche Perspektive auf die Lok einfangen. Trotz Weitwinkel musste ich mich auf den Boden legen, um den Schornstein und den aufsteigenden Dampf vollständig ins Bild zu bekommen. Der Grünfilter verlieh den jungen Blättern der Bäume einen fast gespenstischen Anschein. Diese Perspektive vermittelt den Eindruck, dass der Fotograf im nächsten Moment überrollt wird.

The “Molli”

Since 1886, the Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn “Molli” has connected Bad Doberan with Heiligendamm and the Baltic seaside resort of Kühlungsborn on a 15.4 km long narrow-gauge line. Just as in 1990, shortly after reunification, historic steam locomotives still run here regularly. For the steam locomotive enthusiasts among us, a ride on this train during our Whitsun trip to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was of course a must. During the journey, when the steam locomotive coupled backwards to the wagons and pulling them, I was able to capture an unusual perspective of the locomotive from the platform of the first wagon. Despite the wide angle, I had to lie down on the ground to get the chimney and the rising steam fully into the picture. The green filter gave the young leaves of the trees an almost ghostly appearance. This perspective gives the impression that the photographer will be overrun in the next moment.
