Milos hebt sich deutlich von den anderen Kykladeninseln ab, die ich bisher kennengelernt habe. Die spannenden Wanderungen im DuMont Wanderführer „Kykladen“ waren das Hauptmotiv für den Besuch von Milos. Besonders faszinierte mich die Möglichkeit, eine steinzeitliche „Klingenfabrik“ zu erwandern. Diese Wanderung entpuppte sich tatsächlich als echtes Highlight unserer Reise. Wir entdeckten zahlreiche steinzeitliche Obsidianklingen, die wir als Andenken mit nach Hause nahmen.
Weitere Höhepunkte unseres viertägigen Aufenthaltes waren die Bekanntschaft mit einem Fischer, der uns mit zum Fischen rausnahm, die atemberaubende Tuffküste bei Mandrakia und das beeindruckende griechische Theater, in dem die berühmte Venus von Milos gefunden wurde.
Dieses Bild aus der Inselhauptstadt Plaka erinnert mich immer an den Queen-Song „Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon“ von meiner ersten Queen-LP „A Night at the Opera“.
Wie man sieht, genießt die Katze hier das Leben in vollen Zügen:

Milos clearly stands out from the other Cyclades islands that I have visited so far. The exciting hikes in the DuMont ‘Cyclades’ hiking guide were the main reason for visiting Milos. I was particularly fascinated by the opportunity to hike to a Stone Age ‘blade factory’. This hike actually turned out to be a real highlight of our trip. We discovered numerous Stone Age obsidian blades, which we took home with us as souvenirs.
Other highlights of our four-day stay included meeting a fisherman who took us out fishing, the breathtaking tufa coast at Mandrakia and the impressive Greek theatre where the famous Venus of Milos was found.
This picture from the island’s capital Plaka always reminds me of the Queen song ‘Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon’ from my first Queen LP ‘A Night at the Opera’.
As you can see, the cat here is enjoying life to the full:
