Eine Woche Paris mit meiner Frau und meinem kleinen Sohn, das war der Plan für das Jahr 2001. Und es wurde auch eine sehr schöne Tour, wenn auch ganz anders als geplant. Durch einen Generalstreik in Frankreich waren in dieser Woche unter anderem alle Museen geschlossen. So blieb uns nur, das Beste daraus zu machen und uns mehr Zeit für andere Dinge zu nehmen.
Trotz Regen und Generalstreik brachen wir am zweiten Tag zum Louvre auf. Eine gute Entscheidung. Zwar konnten wir nicht ins Museum, aber die neue Glaspyramide hatten wir dafür fast ganz für uns allein. Und der Regen verlieh diesem Fotomotiv noch eine besondere Note.
Die Glaspyramide im Innenhof des Louvre wurde von 1985 bis 1989 erbaut und dient als Haupteingang für das Museum des Louvre in der französischen Hauptstadt Paris. François Mitterrand wollte mit dem neuen Eingang den Louvre als größtes Museum der Welt positionieren. Mir gefällt vor allem der Kontrast zwischen der Moderne und den alten Gebäuden.

A week in Paris with my wife and young son – that was the plan for 2001. And it turned out to be a very nice trip, albeit quite different from what we had planned. Due to a general strike in France, all museums were closed that week. So we had no choice but to make the best of it and spend more time on other things.
Despite the rain and the general strike, we set off for the Louvre on the second day. It was a good decision. Although we couldn’t go into the museum, we had the new glass pyramid almost entirely to ourselves. And the rain added a special touch to this photo opportunity.
The glass pyramid in the courtyard of the Louvre was built between 1985 and 1989 and serves as the main entrance to the Louvre Museum in the French capital Paris. François Mitterrand wanted to use the new entrance to position the Louvre as the largest museum in the world. I particularly like the contrast between the modernity and the old buildings.
