In Bharatpur, dem Tor zum Keoladeo-Nationalpark, verbrachten wir mehrere Tage und ließen uns immer wieder aufs Neue von der Landschaft und ihren tierischen Bewohnern beeindrucken. Es war tatsächlich eines der prägendsten Erlebnisse meiner gesamten 3 ½ monatigen Nepal-/Indienreise.
Am Abend des zweiten Tages, kurz vor Sonnenuntergang, entdeckten wir diesen „Kormoranbaum“ mit seinen unzähligen Bewohnern. Ein ohrenbetäubendes Gekreische erfüllte die Luft. Besonders faszinierend war das kontrastreiche Schauspiel der Kormorane, die sich als tiefschwarze Silhouetten gegen den glühenden, gelb-orangenen Abendhimmel abhoben.
Seitdem habe ich einige weitere Kormorankolonien und „Kormoranbäume“ gesehen, aber keine kam dieser Szenerie an Ästhetik heran. In seiner Einzigartigkeit und Schönheit ist dieses Bild daher für mich unvergesslich.

We spent several days in Bharatpur, the gateway to Keoladeo National Park, and were repeatedly impressed by the landscape and its animal inhabitants. It was actually one of the most memorable experiences of my entire 3½-month trip to Nepal and India.
On the evening of the second day, shortly before sunset, we discovered this ‘cormorant tree’ with its countless inhabitants. A deafening screech filled the air. Particularly fascinating was the contrasting spectacle of the cormorants, their deep black silhouettes standing out against the glowing yellow-orange evening sky.
Since then, I have seen several other cormorant colonies and ‘cormorant trees,’ but none of them came close to the aesthetic appeal of this scene. In its uniqueness and beauty, this image is therefore unforgettable for me.
