Für mich ist Amrum „die“ nordfriesische Insel schlechthin. Wunderschöne Dünenlandschaften, der grandiose Kniepsand und die hübschen kleinen Dörfer prägen das Bild dieser wunderschönen Insel.
Besonders angetan haben es mir die weitläufigen Dünenlandschaften, die allerdings auch immer eine fotografische Herausforderung darstellen. Zwar war das Betreten der Dünen schon 1989 weitgehend eingeschränkt, doch so restriktiv wie heute war der Dünenschutz noch nicht. So gelang es mir damals, dieses einzigartige Dünenpanorama mit dem am Tag sichtbaren Mond in einem weiten Dünental einzufangen, welches heute leider nicht mehr betreten werden darf. Die Verwendung eines Rotfilters verlieh dem Bild seine besondere, fast schon surreale Atmosphäre und unterstreicht zusammen mit der spannenden Perspektive die Faszination dieser Landschaft.

For me, Amrum is ‘the’ North Frisian island par excellence. Beautiful dune landscapes, the magnificent Kniepsand and the pretty little villages characterise the image of this beautiful island.
I am particularly fond of the extensive dune landscapes, which, however, always pose a photographic challenge. Although access to the dunes was already largely restricted in 1989, dune protection was not as restrictive as it is today. At that time, I managed to capture this unique dune panorama with the moon visible during the day in a wide dune valley, which unfortunately can no longer be entered today. The use of a red filter gave the image its special, almost surreal atmosphere and, together with the exciting perspective, underlines the fascination of this landscape.
