Chr. urkundlich erw\u00e4hnt wurde und um 1500 n. Chr. aufgegeben wurde und w\u00fcst fiel. Heute liegt die Ruine malerisch direkt neben einem ehemals f\u00fcr die Gegend bedeutenden Steinbruch, den ich im Rahmen einer Geographie-Exkursion mit Prof. Lafrenz direkt nach der Wende besuchte. Das Bild entstand quasi als Nebenprodukt zu einem Vortrag \u00fcber die unterkarbonische Grauwacke, die hier im Flechtinger H\u00f6henzug das \u00e4lteste aufgeschlossene Gestein darstellt und aus der auch die Kirchenruine selbst erbaut wurde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:700\">Nordhusen church ruin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:400\"><br>Near Hundisburg, Saxony-Anhalt, 1990<br><br>The Nordhusen church ruins are the last visible evidence of the village of Nordhusen, which was first mentioned in a document in 1218 AD and was abandoned around 1500 AD and fell into ruin. Today, the ruins are picturesquely situated right next to a quarry that was once important for the area, which I visited as part of a geography excursion with Prof. Lafrenz immediately after reunification.
