Seinen Namen verdankt die Region dem altdeutschen Familiennamen Gerwentil, der erstmals 1280 urkundlich erw\u00e4hnt wurde und urspr\u00fcnglich lediglich das Karwendeltal bei Scharnitz bezeichnete.<br>Im Jahr 1996 unternahm ich zusammen mit Marc, Ernie und Matthias eine einw\u00f6chige Wanderung durch das Karwendelgebirge. Eine Etappe f\u00fchrte uns von der Engalm \u00fcber das Hohljoch und die Dreizinkenspitze zur Falkenh\u00fctte. W\u00e4hrend meine Freunde noch den Teufelskopf bestiegen, genoss ich am Hohljoch die Ruhe und nutzte die Gelegenheit, um einige Fotos zu schie\u00dfen. Gem\u00fctlich auf einem Stein in der Sonne sitzend, gesellte sich pl\u00f6tzlich eine Dohle zu mir und lie\u00df sich ganz nah nieder. Mit ruhigen Bewegungen gelang es mir, dieses einzigartige Erlebnis inmitten schroffer Bergspitzen und Schutthalden fotografisch festzuhalten, ohne dass die Dohle erschrak und davonflog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:700\">Alpine chough<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:400\"><br>Hohljoch in the Karwendel mountains, Tyrol, Austria, 1996<br><br>The Karwendel, a mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps, extends mainly in Tyrol \/ Austria (around 80%) and to a lesser extent in Bavaria \/ Germany. The region owes its name to the old German family name Gerwentil, which was first mentioned in a document in 1280 and originally only referred to the Karwendel valley near Scharnitz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:400\"><br>In 1996, I went on a week-long hike through the Karwendel mountains with Marc, Ernie and Matthias. One stage took us from the Engalm via the Hohljoch and the Dreizinkenspitze to the Falkenh\u00fctte. While my friends climbed the Teufelskopf, I enjoyed the peace and quiet on the Hohljoch and took the opportunity to take some photos. Sitting comfortably on a stone in the sun, a jackdaw suddenly joined me and settled down very close.
