Sie wollten unbedingt zum Agia Anna Strand auf der Kykladeninsel Naxos und wir schlossen uns ihnen an. F\u00fcnf Tage lang verbrachten wir gemeinsam an diesem f\u00fcr Aussteiger damals beliebten Strand. Tags\u00fcber badeten wir oder unternahmen ausgedehnte Spazierg\u00e4nge entlang der fast f\u00fcnf Kilometer langen K\u00fcste. Abends feierten wir mit den vielen Aussteigern, die in kleinen Bambush\u00fctten direkt am Strand lebten.<br>Bei einem dieser Spazierg\u00e4nge entdeckte ich, versteckt hinter einigen Felsen eine kleine, unscheinbare Kapelle. Der Anblick des schlichten Geb\u00e4udes mit seinem h\u00fcbschen Glockenturm faszinierte mich so sehr, dass ich mich auf die Suche nach dem perfekten Aufnahmewinkel machte. Nach langem suchen fand ich schlie\u00dflich einen Standort, der den reizvollen Kontrast zwischen dem Glockenturm und den Granitfelsen wunderbar zur Geltung brachte. Die Kapelle, auf einem kleinen H\u00fcgel gelegen, bildete zusammen mit der umgebenden Felslandschaft ein \u00e4u\u00dferst attraktives Fotomotiv.<br>Abgesehen von diesem Strand habe ich von Naxos damals nicht viel gesehen. Unvergessen bleibt jedoch die abenteuerliche Busfahrt \u00fcber extrem schmale und holprige Feldwege. Immer wieder flog das Gep\u00e4ck von den D\u00e4chern der Busse. Gl\u00fccklicherweise hatten wir unseres sicher verzurrt. Wenn ich heute die Insel besuchen w\u00fcrde, w\u00fcrde ich sie wohl kaum wiedererkennen. Zumindest lassen die Google-Luftbilder vermuten, dass sich die Gegend stark ver\u00e4ndert hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:700\">Chapel on Naxos<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:400\"><br>Agia Anna beach on the Cyclades island of Naxos, Greece, 1980<br><br>The fact that we ended up on the Cyclades island of Naxos during our second Interrail trip in 1980 was thanks to a chance encounter with other travellers. They were keen to get to Agia Anna beach on the Cycladic island of Naxos and we joined them. We spent five days together on this beach, which was popular with dropouts at the time. During the day, we bathed or took long walks along the almost five kilometres of coastline. In the evenings, we partied with the many dropouts who lived in small bamboo huts right on the beach.<br>During one of these walks, I discovered a small, inconspicuous chapel hidden behind some rocks. The sight of the simple building with its pretty bell tower fascinated me so much that I set off in search of the perfect angle to take the picture. After a long search, I finally found a location that beautifully emphasised the charming contrast between the bell tower and the granite rocks. The chapel, situated on a small hill, together with the surrounding rocky landscape made for an extremely attractive photo motif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:400\">Apart from this beach, I didn&#8217;t see much of Naxos back then. However, I will never forget the adventurous bus journey over extremely narrow and bumpy country lanes. The luggage kept flying off the roofs of the buses. Fortunately, we had lashed ours down securely. If I were to visit the island today, I would hardly recognise it.
