Oft sind die traditionellen Handwerker tief in ihren lokalen Gemeinschaften verwurzelt und tragen ma\u00dfgeblich zur kulturellen Identit\u00e4t bei, w\u00e4hrend sie gleichzeitig ihren Lebensunterhalt bestreiten. Eine g\u00e4ngige Praxis ist, sich bei der Arbeit zu sehen zu lassen, was auch als subtile Werbung dient. In vielen Innenst\u00e4dten ist es \u00fcblich, dass Werkst\u00e4tten ein offenes Fenster zur Stra\u00dfe haben, durch das der Handwerker bei der Verrichtung seiner T\u00e4tigkeit zu sehen ist.<br>So auch bei diesem traditionellen Stoffdrucker in Osiyan, einer Kleinstadt in Rajasthan. Man erkennt sofort die hohe Konzentration und Pr\u00e4zision, die seine Arbeit erfordert. Selbstverst\u00e4ndlich hatte ich ihn vor dem Fotografieren um Erlaubnis gebeten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:700\">Fabric printing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:400\"><br>Osiyan, Rajasthan, India, 1989<br><br>India has a long and rich tradition of craftsmanship. Traditional artisans are often deeply rooted in their local communities and contribute significantly to cultural identity while also earning their livelihood. It is common practice to allow people to watch them at work, which also serves as subtle advertising. In many city centres, it is common for workshops to have an open window facing the street, through which the craftsman can be seen at work.<br>This is also the case with this traditional fabric printer in Osiyan, a small town in Rajasthan. One immediately recognises the high level of concentration and precision that his work requires.
