R\u00fcckblickend erwies sich der Aufenthalt dort als ein H\u00f6hepunkt unserer Reise.<br>Den Tipp f\u00fcr das Camp hatten wir von einem Trip-Organisator erhalten, der damals Kurztrips f\u00fcr Zwischenstopps von Flugkapit\u00e4nen und Flugbegleitern zusammenstellte. Kennengelernt hatten wir Mario durch Zufall in einem Cafe in Karak, wo wir ins Gespr\u00e4ch kamen. Offenbar waren wir und unsere Art des Reisens ihm sympathisch, denn wir trafen ihn tats\u00e4chlich w\u00e4hrend unserer Rundreise dreimal \u2013 unerwarteterweise auch hier im Camp, wo er eine Gruppe begleitete. Zuletzt begleitete er uns auf eine Glasbodentour im Roten Meer, die ihm wegen Seekrankheit gar nicht gut bekam.<br>Das Wadi Rum pr\u00e4sentiert sich als faszinierende Erosionslandschaft eines weitverzweigten W\u00fcstentals. Charakteristisch sind die zahlreichen Felsmassive, die aus verwitterten Sandsteinschichten \u00fcber hartem Granit emporragen.<br>Bereits am Nachmittag unserer Ankunft im Disseh Moon Valley Camp unternahmen wir eine gef\u00fchrte Cameltour. Nach erfolgreicher Beendigung und Verabschiedung machten sich unsere F\u00fchrer mitsamt ihren Kamelen auf den Heimweg. Zum Gl\u00fcck gelang es mir noch, ein paar wundersch\u00f6ne Aufnahmen ihrer \u201eAbreise\u201c vor der atemberaubenden W\u00fcstenkulisse festzuhalten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:700\">Into the Desert<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:400\"><br>Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Jordan, 2004<br><br>We visited Wadi Rum, described by Lawrence of Arabia as \u201cimmeasurably echoing and divine,\u201d towards the end of our tour of Jordan. Looking back, our stay there proved to be a highlight of our trip.<br>We got the tip for the camp from a trip organizer who was putting together short trips for stopovers for airline captains and flight attendants at the time. We met Mario by chance in a caf\u00e9 in Karak, where we struck up a conversation. Apparently, he liked us and our way of traveling, because we actually met him three times during our tour \u2013 unexpectedly also here at the camp, where he was accompanying a group. Finally, he accompanied us on a glass-bottom boat tour in the Red Sea, which did not agree with him at all due to seasickness.<br>Wadi Rum presents itself as a fascinating eroded landscape of a widely ramified desert valley. Characteristic are the numerous rock massifs that rise from weathered sandstone layers above hard granite.<br>On the afternoon of our arrival at Disseh Moon Valley Camp, we went on a guided camel tour. After successfully completing the tour and saying goodbye, our guides and their camels set off on their way home.
