Hier hat sich ein Relikt der urspr\u00fcnglichen Vegetation erhalten: ein Wald aus Buchen und Eichen. Durch jahrelange Beweidung haben diese B\u00e4ume oft bizarre Formen angenommen, die am steilen Talrand besonders eindrucksvoll zur Geltung kommen. Bei Nebel oder D\u00e4mmerung verst\u00e4rkt sich die ohnehin schon geheimnisvolle Atmosph\u00e4re des Ortes.<br>Der Name &#8222;Troldh\u00f6j&#8220; verweist direkt auf die Trolle, die unberechenbaren Wesen der nordischen Mythologie. Sie verk\u00f6rperten die Naturkr\u00e4fte und wurden oft mit anderen Fabelwesen wie Zwergen, Waldgeistern oder Elfen in Verbindung gebracht. Besonders in den M\u00e4rchen Skandinaviens verschmolzen diese Gestalten zu einer vielf\u00e4ltigen Welt von Fabelwesen. Im Laufe der Christianisierung wurden die Trolle d\u00e4monisiert, doch im Volksglauben hielten sich Vorstellungen von ihnen bis ins 19. Jahrhundert. Man glaubte zwar an ihre Existenz, mied sie jedoch und betrachtete sie als unheimliche Gestalten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:600\">Store Troldh\u00f8j<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:400\"><br>Gjern Bakker in Aarhus County, Jutland (now Central Jutland), Denmark, 2001<br><br>In the Gjern Bakker nature reserve, \u201cStore Troldh\u00f6j\u201d rises as the highest point right on the edge of the Gjern\u00e5 valley. Here, a remnant of the original vegetation has been preserved: a forest of beech and oak trees. Years of grazing have caused these trees to take on often bizarre shapes, which are particularly striking against the steep valley edge. In fog or twilight, the already mysterious atmosphere of the place is heightened.<br>The name \u201cTroldh\u00f6j\u201d refers directly to the trolls, the unpredictable creatures of Norse mythology. They embodied the forces of nature and were often associated with other mythical beings such as dwarves, forest spirits or elves. Particularly in Scandinavian fairy tales, these figures merged into a diverse world of mythical creatures. In the course of Christianisation, the trolls were demonised, yet in popular belief, notions of them persisted into the 19th century.
