Sein vorrangiges Schutzziel ist die Nashornpopulation, die sich im Rahmen von Jungle Walks und Elephant-Trips beobachten l\u00e4sst.<br>An unserem zweiten Morgen brachen wir in aller Fr\u00fche zu einem solchen Elefantenritt auf. Durch den noch in Nebel geh\u00fcllten Salwald ritten wir dem Sonnenaufgang entgegen. \u00dcber dem mannshohen Bodendickicht schwebte der Morgennebel wie ein Schleier. Welch eine faszinierende Szene in diesem fr\u00fchlingshaften, noch bl\u00e4tterlosen Wald! Die skurrilen B\u00e4ume wirkten in dieser Atmosph\u00e4re geradezu gespenstisch. Verst\u00e4rkt wurde dieser Eindruck noch durch die durchdringenden Rufe der Pfaue, die den Morgen durchdrangen. Der erh\u00f6hte Blickwinkel vom R\u00fccken des Elefanten verlieh dieser Szenerie einen ganz besonderen Reiz.<br>Mir selbst wurde der Aufenthalt im Chitwan National Park etwas getr\u00fcbt. W\u00e4hrend der Busfahrt von Kathmandu hatte ich mir ungebetene und unliebsame G\u00e4ste in Form von L\u00e4usen eingefangen, die mein Wohlbefinden erheblich beeintr\u00e4chtigten. Unmittelbar nach dem Pashupatinath-Fest waren wir von Katmandu nach Chitwan gefahren. Der Bus war \u00fcberf\u00fcllt mit Menschen aus dem Flachland Indiens, denen die kurvenreiche Strecke, vielleicht auch aufgrund des Konsums von Drogen, sichtlich zu schaffen machte. Einer Frau, der es besonders schlecht ging, erlaubte ich, ihren Kopf auf meinem Bein abzulegen, w\u00e4hrend sie sich unaufh\u00f6rlich \u00fcbergeben musste. Tja, und da sind wohl die L\u00e4use gewandert. Its primary conservation focus is the rhino population, which can be observed on jungle walks and elephant treks.<br>On our second morning, we set off very early for one such elephant ride. We rode through the sal forest, still shrouded in mist, towards the sunrise. The morning mist hovered like a veil over the man-high undergrowth. What a fascinating scene in this spring-like, still leafless forest! The bizarre trees looked almost ghostly in this atmosphere. This impression was further heightened by the piercing cries of the peacocks that filled the morning air. The elevated vantage point from the elephant\u2019s back lent this scene a very special charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:400\">My stay in Chitwan National Park was somewhat marred. During the bus journey from Kathmandu, I had picked up some uninvited and unwelcome guests in the form of lice, which significantly affected my well-being. We had travelled from Kathmandu to Chitwan immediately after the Pashupatinath Festival. The bus was packed with people from the Indian plains, who were clearly struggling with the winding route, perhaps partly due to the consumption of drugs. I allowed one woman, who was feeling particularly unwell, to rest her head on my leg whilst she was vomiting incessantly. Well, that\u2019s probably where the lice came from.
