Um diesem Schicksal zu entkommen, versetzte sie die Getr\u00e4nke bei der Hochzeitsfeier mit einem Schlafmittel und floh in der Nacht mit ihrer wahren Liebe.<br>Auf ihrer Flucht fanden die beiden \u00fcberall auf der Insel Zuflucht bei Menschen, die von ihrem Schicksal ber\u00fchrt waren. Da sie jeden Ort nach nur einer Nacht verlie\u00dfen, konnten sie ihren Verfolgern stets entkommen. Schlie\u00dflich erreichten sie Ballycarbery Castle, wo sich ihnen ein atemberaubender Blick \u00fcber die Landschaft bis zum Meer bot. An diesem Ort, nach wochenlanger Flucht und Entbehrung, konnten sie ihre Liebe vollziehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:600\">Ballycarbery Castle<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-garamond-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);font-style:italic;font-weight:400\"><br>Cahersiveen, Ring of Kerry, Kerry, Ireland, 1987<br><br>Near Cahersiveen stand the ruins of Ballycarbery Castle, the most impressive castle ruins I saw on my trip to Ireland. The castle was first mentioned in records in 1594 as the property of the powerful McCarty Mor clan. Following the death of Donal McCarthy Mor, Ballycarbery Castle passed to Sir Valentine Browne.<br>In 1652, during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, Ballycarbery Castle was bombarded with cannons by Parliamentary troops (Cromwell\u2019s forces) and destroyed. Today, lush ivy climbs over the ancient castle walls, lending the ruins a fairytale atmosphere and sparking the imagination.<br>A legend tells of a young woman who was to be forced to marry an old man who could have been her father or even her grandfather. To escape this fate, she laced the drinks at the wedding feast with a sleeping potion and fled during the night with her true love.<br>On their flight, the couple found refuge all over the island with people who were moved by their plight. As they left each place after just one night, they were always able to evade their pursuers. Eventually, they reached Ballycarbery Castle, where they were treated to a breathtaking view across the countryside to the sea.
