In Mysore habe ich die Sehenswürdigkeiten einen Tag lang links liegen gelassen und bin stattdessen entspannt durch die bunten Märkte und Basare geschlendert. Ein Erlebnis, das bisher viel zu kurz kam. Manchmal ist weniger eben einfach mehr.
Auch hier auf dem Markt in Mysore gab es wieder diese kunstvoll aufgetürmten Gemüsestände, die einfach phantastisch aussehen und es mir sehr angetan haben. Was für ein Aufwand, jeden Morgen alles wieder so präzise aufzustapeln! Dieser eher schlichte Stand mit Knoblauch und Zwiebeln hatte es mir besonders angetan, da ein eigentlich unscheinbares Gemüse durch das Stapeln richtig zelebriert wird. Dass der Verkäufer gleichzeitig eher lustlos und abwesend wirkt, bildet einen schönen Gegensatz zur aufwendigen Präsentation.

In Mysore, I gave the tourist attractions a miss for a day and took instead a leisurely stroll through the colourful markets and bazaars. It was an experience I’d been neglecting for far too long. Sometimes, less really is more.
Here at the market in Mysore, too, there were once again those artfully piled-up vegetable stalls that look simply fantastic and really caught my eye. What a lot of effort it must take to stack everything up so precisely every morning! I was particularly taken with this rather simple stall selling garlic and onions, as the stacking really brings out the best in what are actually rather unassuming vegetables. The fact that the vendor seems rather listless and distracted at the same time creates a lovely contrast to the elaborate presentation.
