Wir sind 1985 per Mitfahrgelegenheit mit einem deutsch-australischen Pärchen bis nach Montenegro gereist. Unterwegs auf der Küstenstrecke haben wir uns auch kurz Zeit für einen Besuch von Dubrovnik genommen, das schon damals als „Perle der Adria“ bezeichnet wurde.
Ich hatte damals das Glück, Dubrovnik vor dem Kroatien-Krieg und den damit verbundenen Zerstörungen zu sehen, aber leider keine Zeit für schöne Bilder. Dubrovnik wurde inzwischen wieder originalgetreu und gut aufgebaut, wird aber durch die Scharen von „Game of Thrones“-Fans beeinträchtigt.
Dieses wirklich schöne Foto der Altstadt von Dubrovnik habe ich bei der Abreise in Richtung Süden von einem Autorastplatz aus aufgenommen. Die nicht so schönen neueren Gebäude sind zum Teil nicht im Bildausschnitt bzw. fallen auf dem Foto nicht besonders ins Auge. Durch den Einsatz des 24-mm-Weitwinkelobjektivs wird die ursprüngliche Anlage dieser Festungsstadt sehr schön herausgearbeitet. Das Bild selbst habe ich mit einem Rotfilter aufgenommen. Dadurch werden die hellen historischen Gebäude gegenüber dem dunklen Meer besonders schön hervorgehoben. Dies macht den Reiz dieses Bildes aus.
The Old Town of Dubrovnik

In 1985, we travelled all the way to Montenegro as passengers in a car driven by a German-Australian couple. Whilst travelling along the coast, we also took a little time out to visit Dubrovnik, which was already known back then as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’.
I was lucky enough to see Dubrovnik before the Croatian War and the destruction it caused, but unfortunately I didn’t have time to take any good photos. Dubrovnik has since been faithfully and skilfully restored to its original state, but is now marred by the hordes of ‘Game of Thrones’ fans.
I took this truly beautiful photo of Dubrovnik’s old town from a motorway service area as we were heading south. Some of the less attractive newer buildings are either outside the frame or do not particularly stand out in the photo. The use of a 24 mm wide-angle lens beautifully highlights the original layout of this fortified city. I took the photo itself using a red filter. This makes the light-coloured historic buildings stand out particularly well against the dark sea. This is what gives the photo its charm.
